About Kamru Fort
Kamru Fort is an old tower-fort of the Bushahr rulers, built in stone and deodar, with the Kamakshi Devi temple and wonderful views over the Sangla valley.
Kamru was the original capital of the Bushahr kingdom before it moved to Sarahan and Rampur. The fort is a tall stone and wood tower with intricate wood carving and a gateway topped with a Buddha image.
The Kamakshi Devi idol inside was brought from Guwahati, Assam, according to local belief. A short uphill walk through the old village takes you to the fort.
