About Sangla Valley

Sangla is the heart of the Baspa valley — a green bowl of apple and apricot orchards, wooden temples and snowy peaks, and the base for Chitkul, Rakchham and Kamru Fort.

The Sangla (Baspa) valley runs for about 95 km from Karcham up to the Tibetan border. Sangla town is its main base with the best range of hotels, homestays and camps in Kinnaur.

The valley is famous for its apple orchards, which bloom white in April and are heavy with fruit in September and October. The Bering Nag temple in Sangla hosts the Phulaich flower festival in autumn.

From Sangla you can do short walks to Kamru village and fort, the Sangla meadows and trout farms, or drive further up the valley to Batseri, Rakchham and Chitkul.

  • Bering Nag temple and the Phulaich festival
